Optometry is a profession that cares for the sense of vision. Latest statistics show that 80% of the blindness/issues related to the vision are preventable or avoidable by providing primary eye care and also 30% of these blind people are in India. Optometrists who are getting trained both in academics & clinical will be providing this primary vision care to people across the world. This 4 years program includes 3 years of academics which covers the fundamental aspects of the human eye and prepares the candidate to diagnose, treat & prevent blindness through various subjects related to the eyes & equipment required both theoretically & practically. The last 1 year of internship will make the candidate industry-ready by providing complete practical exposure. This program is offered in collaboration with Lenskart, a company which aims to spread the mission of preventable blindness through their 1000+ stores pan India and various vision camps/programs under different departments. The internship period will be provided in Lenskart’s stores in Pan India.

Curriculum Advisory Group
In line with the mission and vision of DSEU to create industry relevant courses the Curriculum Advisory Group (CAG) is a mix of passionate educators and subject matter experts from academics and industry. There is a unique CAG for each of the bachelors and masters level courses. The CAG has analyzed the conceptual needs of the course as well as the employability needs and entrepreneurial opportunities offered to the students by the course. Based on their analysis the CAG has developed the program structure, selected the courses to be included, designed the syllabus, suggested the pedagogical approach, outlined the contours of the assessment, suggested modes of and the nature of industry interactions, and aspects of internships and apprenticeships offered in the course.
